Drainage design workflows
are stuck in the past

While every other industry is accelerating with AI, drainage engineers are still burning weeks on manual design iterations in expensive legacy software.

Weeks lost to manual iterations and compliance checks

A single drainage scheme takes 2–4 weeks of manual sizing, iterating, and compliance checking. Multiply that across every project in the pipeline.

Legacy software expertise as a bottleneck

Your best engineers spend more time fighting legacy software than solving engineering problems. Junior staff can't contribute without months of training.

Schedule 3 is about to change everything

Mandatory SuDS approval will massively increase drainage design demand. With a growing talent shortage, the current workforce simply can't scale without more efficient tools.

Describe It. RUUTE AI designs It.

RUUTE AI is an agentic infrastructure designer that lets anyone create compliant drainage designs through natural language. Describe your design requirements — and watch a fully engineered solution appear in minutes, not weeks.

From Weeks to Minutes

Every capability is designed around one goal: compliant designs that are faster to produce, higher in quality, and accessible to any engineer.

Autonomous Design Loop

RUUTE AI iterates through pipe sizing, gradient optimisation, and storage allocation — running hydraulic simulation at each step. No heuristics. Real physics.

Draw. Annotate. Prompt.

Use the Pencil tool to sketch catchment boundaries, mark constraints, or annotate the canvas directly. Then describe what you need in plain English — RUUTE AI reads your drawing as design intent and generates a compliant network around it.

“Design a drainage network for this catchment. Outfall is at the south-west corner. Avoid the existing services I've marked.”

→ 12 pipes sized · 3 catchments linked · 0 conflicts · SWMM: PASSED

Real-time Collaboration

Work on the same drainage model simultaneously with colleagues and external stakeholders. Changes propagate instantly — no file sharing, no version conflicts, no waiting for someone to check out the model.

Three steps to a compliant design

01

Create your project and run /onboard

RUUTE AI guides you through setup — asking about your fundamental project info, outfall location, and design constraints — before designing a single pipe.

02

Select a mode, then describe what you need

Choose Design to modify the network, Inspect to troubleshoot, Plan to plan design strategy, or Review to check compliance. RUUTE AI sizes pipes, sets gradients, and runs a full SWMM simulation — iterating until every criterion passes.

03

Export your compliant design

Export your completed drainage design in industry standard formats — ready to submit, and share with your stakeholders.

Common Questions

Yes, you can import your existing InfoDrainage models into RUUTE and continue modelling. Although you can also start designing drainage from scratch — you don’t need InfoDrainage at all.

RUUTE AI checks designs against the Code and the SuDS Manual by default — but users can also upload their own local authority standards.

We’re onboarding design partners now and opening early access in waves. Join the waitlist with your work email and we’ll reach out when your slot is ready.

Your project data stays private to your workspace. We don’t train shared models on your designs, and all data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

At the moment, we support .xml and .idtx for existing surface, and .iddx for InfoDrainage models.

No. RUUTE AI is driven by plain-English prompts and guided setup — junior engineers can contribute from day one, while senior engineers stay in control of every design decision.
